Adamantine
The hardest and rarest metal that can be found in the Wild Lands is called adamantine. The black metal is mined from fallen meteors and considered indestructible. Not even a diamond can make a scratch on this most precious metal.
Darksteel
Darksteel is an alloy of steel and a rare ingredient only known to the dwarves under the earth. It is harder than most mundane metals and does barely reflect any light. It is sometimes mistaken for adamantine.
Devilskin
Often necromancers and other ruthless conjurers summon devils from the nether realms to help them further their dark schemes. The skin of those creatures is very tough but at the same time highly flexible. Armour fashioned from it is also resistant to acid and fire.
Devilsteel
This reddish metal is often confused with copper by the untrained eye. It is, however, rumoured to stem from the lower planes of existence like the sea of fire. It is marvellously hard and absolutely fire proof.
Fairy Leather
Very rare armours are made of fairy leather. The elves use fairy dust and high elven lore to infuse the leather with magical energies that make it more resilient and more comfortable to wear.
Fur
Clothing made of fur is perfect for cold environments. But it can also bestow special powers upon the wearer depending on the creature it is taken from. Winterwolf and yeti fur grants resistance to cold whereas hellhound fur makes the wearer somewhat resilient to fire. The magical manticore fur is very difficult to destroy.
Godsteel
No one knows how the golden godsteel entered the world. Some say it is the metal the gods themselves use to create their armours and weapons. Any godsteel equipment is light as wood but absolutely indestructible. A godsteel blade can even break an adamantine one.
Hide
The hide of many monsters can be used to create effective armours. Winterwolf hide grants high resistance to cold climates whereas demon hide makes the wearer resistant to fire. Troll hide retains some regenerative powers of its former possessor and is difficult to tear apart. Kraken hide is the thickest and most resilient hide of all.
Ironwood
All over the Wild Lands a special kind of tree can be found with a bark hard as iron. Some druids perform lengthy rituals in which they cut down one of those holy trees to create deadly weapons for their druid circle.
Mageweave
Mageweave is delicate linen cloth woven by magic rather than crafty hands. The elven mages were the first to produce these perfectly woven pieces of armour for all their spell casters.
Mithril
The silvery ore is the one metal dwarves revere even more than gold. It can be found in the rarest of underground veins. It is harder than steel but at the same time miraculously light. Because of the latter property the elves have developed a remarkable skill in fabricating delicate and beautiful mithril chain mails that can be worn under normal clothing.
Scales
Nature has provided many a beast with protective scales to fend off the attacks of their predators. These scales can be harvested and used to create strong and flexible armour pieces for warriors. Scales come in various degrees of hardness and thickness: From the soft lizard scales to the almost indestructible Leviathan scales.
Shadowweave
Shadowweave cloth is woven by magic just like mageweave. The raw materials, however, are not substantial but consist of raw magic essence. The result is called shadowweave because it is a shadow of the real item, woven by magic.
Spidersilk
A colony of giant, murderous spiders is located in a cave system below the Lurk Wood. Only the bravest of adventurers enter the lair of the eight-legged terrors to harvest the spider silk of their cocoons. The green garments fashioned from the silk are rubber-like to the touch but very resilient to cuts.
Starweave
Like godsteel, starweave is not from this world. The beautiful starweave tunics, shirts and armours cannot be torn by the strongest man. The gods themselves are said to wear these finest of garments.
Titansteel
When the old war between gods and titans waged across the world many weapons forged by the giants were left on the battlefields. Only the most talented of human blacksmiths could reforge those arms into human-sized weapons. Such weapons look as if fashioned out of platinum but are light weighted and even stronger than devilsteel.
Wyrmskin
The wild lands are populated by many species of dragon kin: Wyvern, dragons and other large reptiles. The leathery hide under their scales is a heavily traded good that can be fashioned into remarkably strong armour pieces that do not encumber the wearer as metal does.
